Q. Why are we making this change after all of these years?
A. EagleSticks is part of a larger company called McClelland Inc. Each individual part of the business has to do it's part to contribute to the profitability of the company. EagleSticks is a Golf Club, that depends heavily on the traffic generated from the golfers to create revenue for the Sports Bar. For many years we have operated at a loss during certain months of the year (i.e. late fall, winter months). The reporting tells us that most of our revenue in Mac's during these months is during the evening, mostly from local people, while a large part of the overhead is during the day. These modified hours will allow us to keep most of the revenue generated, while eliminating much of the overhead.
Q. Will we still do private parties and business meetings?
A. Yes. If customers inquire about the ability to book events during hours not listed above, we need to stay consistent in our messaging to them that these facilities will still be available.
Q. How will these changes affect my working hours?
A. The modified hours will affect the labor in the kitchen in a more significant way than it will the wait staff. While the day shift wait staff will be limited to Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays, the kitchen labor suffers a more significant reduction in forces. If you want to know exactly how you will be affected, please see Kelly for a better explanation. Hours will be determined by your overall performance and time with the company.
Q. How will this affect our business long term?
A. Since we tailored the hours to the most significant part of our revenue producing times, we feel it is a relatively small part of our customer base that will be affected. We have consulted with several other restaurants that have practiced season hours, and they have all agreed that if you have a product and a service that your customers like, they will return.
Q. What can I do to help make this the best situation possible for the company?
A. Make sure that your communications with our customers is not doomsday. Our revenues coming in are better than last year but we must find a way to control expenses. When we identify ways to be more efficient, then we must takes steps. Also, make sure to let them know that we will remain open for lunch on Fridays, so make that see special, and invite them to come dine with us on Fridays and on the weekends. Our communications with our customers should be such, that when golf season resumes, we will resume business as usual. Also, people do want things to do in the winter months, so do your part to keep them informed of events such as Rick Sabine's Comedy Club, NYE Party, Valentine's Day, etc.
